BETWEEN EXILE AND LOSS
7mins/2026/16:9
Images, Original Text and Narration by Motasim Morsal Adam (Teko). Produced and Edited by David Fedele
“Between Exile and Loss” is a poetic short film by young Sudanese poet and filmmaker-in-exile Motasim Morsal Adam (Teko).
Filmed in secret on mobile phones as he fled the war in Sudan, the film is composed entirely of footage and photographs captured during Motasim’s journey through Sudan, Chad, Libya, Algeria and Morocco—much of it smuggled out from prisons and detention centres.
Between Exile and Loss transforms a journey of forced displacement into a lyrical meditation on memory, exile and the struggle to survive.
