Tinted Glasses

To have faith in humanity or not – that is the question …

For the moment I will assume that the intention of the majority of humanity is good. That we think and believe we are doing the “right thing” and when we make tragic errors it is a mistake rather than intentional.

So if this is the assumption, we all must be looking at the world through tinted glasses. This is the only logical way to explain how different people can look at the same thing and see something different, and react in different ways.

You see opportunity … I see exploitation.

You see taming the savages … I see destruction of a culture.

You see utilising resources … I see destroying the environment.

You see religion … I see a way to control the masses.

And our life experiences, education, upbringing and everything else dictates the colour of the tinted glasses and the intensity of the tint.

The only other logical answer is that people intentionally go out to rape, pillage and plunder …

At the moment I am hanging onto the small possibility of hope that humanity hasn’t regressed to this extent, that the majority of people have good intentions, even when the results of their actions have catastrophic consequences.

Tinted glasses … or am I just naive?
